Post-Valentine Decompression / Reading Group

We’ll get together to discuss the Valentine- and romance-related readings below, and generally rant and/or rave about V-Day.

This is a new strategy for us— we want to see if having a set of readings helps make the discussions accessible to people with only basic knowledge about the chosen topics, as well as challenging enough for people who want to get really in-depth.

• Single on Valentine’s Day. This short article mentions a lot of common expectations about Valentine’s Day and romance in general.
• Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack of Sexual Conservatism. This really long blog post critiques a lot of common expectations about romance, relationships and sexuality, especially in the bulleted list at the end.
• Feel free to bring your own readings, magazines or links to share… for inspiration or irritation.
